Coming up was tremendous hope

After I brushed and tacked my horse

Before each ProRodeo

I’d be drippin’ with an inner feeling

Dippin’ to clip the tie down to cinch

Completed by buckling the skid boots kneeling

Grass ropes just right in my rope can

Feeling so perfect for catching a calf

Warm up my horse in both leads

Like an old Chicken Dinner hand

In these arenas Head to Head with champions

God answered to me as I stepped off the right side

Until the day I couldn’t enter

My professional rodeo days went awry

Depression gripped me like a noose

Sold my traveling partner my best horse

The calf lane grew Himalayan Blackberries

Invasive species ran its full course

At twenty-one God knew I made my last ProRodeo run

Before the Himalayan Blackberries invaded the woven wires

Exactly twenty-one years later the berries got the nippers

Now I dream about wearing out ProRodeo tires…<3 T-V

The last 2 days at work I’ve been cutting Himalayan Blackberries and invasive species out of fence lines on 70-acres I take care of. When I lie down and rest all I see is big briars sticking through fences. They are really invasive and hard to get rid of.
