We have had a couple good ideas from members about spreading the money out in the #13 Roping, and I would like to put them out there for discussion.

1.  Not allow the Top 10 in the standings to be able to enter the sidepot.

2. Allow everyone to enter the sidepot, but drop down below the regular pot to pay the sidepot.  So if the Roping paid 3 monies and the sidepot paid 2 monies, we would pay the sidepot to 4th and 5th.

3.  Do nothing.  Keep it the same cuz it aint broke.  (I'm learning my lesson)

I would like to keep this just for the #13, unless it looks like it will work in other ropings.

Like you said it isn't broken.....  I would keep it the same.  Who goes to win 4th or 5th?  Just my opinion.

# 3. Wins...No change...it ain't broke...  # 1. If the top 10 are roping in the correct roping they will not dominate... #2 nonsense...My 2 cents

Leave it as is.

Some people must think that it is broken or we wouldn't be having this discussion. I think the point of #1 and #2 are to have more players win money. The more players that win money the more players that keep going to the ropings. Which is an obvious benefit for all concerned. I could support this.

the #2 sounds like the most centable thing. the more people winning money means more people that will come back to the roping.

Just a suggestion...#13 consists of a WIDE range of age groups. Why not have a "grade school age group," "18-40 yrs old group," and "41 and up?" Of course the groups are completely subjective. Depending upon the # of participants per group, determines the payout. Might be too difficult; just a thought! Have a great day~

It's not broke- I believe less people will enter the side pot if you start doing it this way.

I AM NOT REALLY SURE ABOUT THE IDEAS MENTIONED, I DO HAVE A COUPLE IDEAS TO THROW OUT THERE.

1)  RESTRUCTURING THE PAYOUT AS IT STANDS TO POSSIBLY PAY MORE MONIES.

2) INCENTIVE BASED ON A DROP DOWN TIME LIKE THE 4D BARREL RACES WOULD HELP SPREAD THE MONEY AROUND. IF THIS WAS DONE YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE #14 ROPING.

IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO GET A CHECK! JUST SOME THOUGHTS, GOOD LUCK!

WE BELIEVE THE ULTIMATE CALF ROPING HAS LOTS OF GOOD THINGS GOING ON!

The system not broke, the numbers are so messed up. We are trying to spread the money and not fix the numbers. All we have to do is look at the times in the 12 and 13's and see that they don't fit the definition of a number 12 or a number 13 according to the Ultimate's definition of a number 12 and number 13 roper, leave the money alone and it will take care of it self.

Very well put Mark Mitchell.

Food for thought from Sweetwater on Sunday: 20 ropers in the 13 roping. Paid 2 places: 1st= $230 plus $96 side per round. 2cnd= $154 plus $64 per round.  Avg. paid $461 plus $192 for 1st and $307 plus $128 for 2cnd. With #2 in effect { #2 is the 2cnd chance sidepot } the rounds would have paid 4 places : 1st= $230 2cnd= $154 3rd= $96 and 4th= $64. The avg. would pay: 1st= $461 2cnd= $307 3rd= $192 and 4th= $128.

To Tim Hawks.  I understand what you are saying and it's a good thought.  However, if you didn't place in any of the rounds and you placed 3rd or 4th in the avg with entering the side pot, you would not even get your entry fee's back.  Last hole in the avg should aleast get your entries back.  If you divide it up to much it's not even worth going as far as what some of the people have to drive.  I would think if you were to start dividing up the money to much you would start losing too many ropers.  I do agree with others that thier could be some changes with some of the ropings not the money though.  Just my opinion.
